About & Methodology

Independent by design. Practical by default.

Cloud Native Application Intelligence is an independent research product. Not a media site. Not a vendor directory. Our job is to save you weeks of evaluation time by giving you explicit, production-oriented recommendations with tradeoffs you can defend.

What we do

We publish concise intelligence briefings for platform engineers, DevOps engineers, cloud architects, and CTOs who own stack decisions. Each briefing answers: For this workload and these constraints, what should we use — and why?

  • Decision support — “Use X instead of Y when…” with explicit constraints, not “here are 10 options.”
  • Production focus — run cost, operational complexity, team-size implications, and failure modes.
  • Actionable — tables you can copy into an ADR/ RFC in minutes.
  • Curated shortlists — 3 vetted options per need, with clear skips.
  • Ecosystem deltas — what changed that should change your decision.

How we make recommendations

  1. Start from constraints — team size, traffic, data shape, budget, compliance, cloud posture. Constraints dictate the right answer faster than feature comparisons.
  2. Evaluate on 5 axes: capability fit, total cost (run + people), operational complexity, hiring/maturity, and migration risk. If a tool wins on features but loses on ops, we say so.
  3. Prefer boring technology that fails well and is easy to hire for, unless a measured constraint forces novelty.
  4. Publish the swap conditions — the triggers that should make you revisit the decision. Good decisions include their own expiry date.
  5. Verify against public sources — docs, pricing pages, CNCF/project status, and production postmortems. We cite what we rely on.

Independence & trust

We have no vendor affiliations, sponsorships, or pay-for-placement listings. We are not affiliated with CNCF, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or any vendor mentioned. If we ever recoup costs via partnerships, it will be disclosed explicitly in the briefing and on the site.

We do not use fake testimonials, fake customers, or fabricated usage numbers. Claims are limited to what we can substantiate about cost, complexity, and production behavior — and we encourage you to verify for your own workload, region, and compliance needs.

What this is NOT

  • Not a giant blog, directory, or comparison database. Small, focused, opinionated.
  • Not vendor-certified training or “ultimate guide” encyclopedia pages.
  • Not a SaaS dashboard (yet). If members want software automation, we’ll build it — but we won’t build it to justify a price.
  • Not AI-generated filler. Every briefing is written for a specific production decision, with judgment you can disagree with — but you’ll know the reasoning.

Founding period

We are in a founding-member validation. The initial intelligence is being built directly around member requests. Founders set the queue, get direct access, and keep their founding price locked ($249/year or $29/month) for as long as they stay subscribed.

If you have a stack decision you need help with, becoming a founding member is the fastest way to get it briefed.

Who builds this

Built by engineers who have shipped and operated production cloud-native stacks — not analysts who have never been on call. We write for operators who will own the tradeoff at 2 a.m. The site is intentionally small so we can iterate quickly based on member feedback.
